“The dress must follow the body of a woman, not the body following the shape of the dress.” Hubert de Givenchy
Whether you like it or not, the way you look plays a role in your success in the modern workplace. The problem with appearance is that sadly for a lot of bosses it translates to performance. It only takes a few seconds for someone to make an impression of you and a handful of others to change it. This is why it is so important to carry yourself with confidence and class from the start.
In today’s workplace, where casual wear is becoming increasingly popular, it can be tricky to get the appearance right. Summers as much as we love them can be a little more difficult to define what exactly is office appropriate and what is not.
Hence why I prefer to opt for a safe option, my favourite simple classic look. Oh yes, I can almost hear you saying….boooooring! Whatever you think, the most common and easiest way to dress for office has always been, and will always be the classic outfit and it works perfectly for all jobs. If you want to add some edge, do not underestimate the power of accessories. Shoes, bag, jewellery, watch, lips, nails. It’s all in the details.
Every once in a while I like to take a moment to introduce you to a brand I really like, and this season that brand is CLOSET LONDON. I’ve always been obsessed with classic style and Closet London is my newest favourite to head to every time I want to refresh my wardrobe.
Though this brand was on my radar for some time now, I think my obsession went into overdrive when I received these two elegant gems I am wearing in today’s post.
Though midi dresses come in all shapes and sizes, it is the belted and sleeveless blazer style that I can’t get enough of. Universally flattering, it’s basically the perfect combination of a slightly masculine and an ultra feminine silhouette that never fails to impress. Seriously, I get the most complements when I wear this dress style!
A midi length dress is always a great work appropriate option for when the heat is just too warm to bear. It is such a classic cut that looks feminine and put together.
After preaching the benefits of versatility for years these two dresses are my latest gems to rise up to the challenge. They have been my go-to style since I got them. They are so comfy and look super elegant, they are literally my favourite dresses ever! They obviously look just perfect in the office but add a pair of shimmery stilettos, grab a sparkly clutch and you are ready for a night out with your girls!
I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m all about colours nowadays! Love to wear it during the day and of course cocktail hour is no exception. Not that there is anything wrong with a classic black dress. In fact, my wardrobe is bursting out with black dress combinations, but isn’t it kinda fun to switch things up every once in a while and opt for something bright instead?
I’ve always been a huge fun of passionate reds but lately I’ve been obsessing about anything khaki! Dresses, shorts, little cute tops, just name it!
Now why do I like these colours so much? First of all, they are really flattering, and toned down enough to look great in the office. They also look especially striking if you’ve got a bit of a tan going on. Secondly, they pair perfectly not only with blacks but also with nude accents (bags & heels). Thirdly, both red and khaki look great either with silver or gold jewellery. Literally endless mix and match options!
Dinner date with my husband, drinks with the girls, last minute invite somewhere fancy, honestly these dresses have not failed me once! Love that!
And you know what, the midi length trend is here to stay for a long time to come!
