Yu Garden is believed to have been built in the Ming Dynasty, more than 400 years ago. It was the largest and most prestigious of its era in Shanghai after it was completed.

Yu Garden is small in size, but it contains all elements that a classical Chinese garden should have. The pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters all have unique characteristics. It is composed of six scenic areas: Sansui Hall, Wanhua Chamber, Dianchun Hall, Huijing Hall, Yuhua Hall, and the Inner Garden.

Aside from the waterfront views, the Bund also has a heap of shops, restaurants, bars and galleries, too. It’s perfect if you’re looking to grab a bite to eat or to soak up that city view with a drink or two.

Don’t miss out on trying local specialties like rice dumplings, sticky rice cakes, and braised pork knuckles. The town is known for its delicious, traditional Chinese cuisine.
