- Nanjing Road: A Tale of Tradition, Transformation and Timeless Charm
Nestled along the banks of the Huangpu River, Shanghai stands as a testament to the seamless fusion of tradition and modernity. Join me as I unravel the enchanting tale of Shanghai – a city where history whispers through the streets and innovation propels it forward.
Yu Garden – Timeless Tapestry of Old Shanghai
In the heart of Shanghai lies the old town, where ancient cobblestone streets wind through narrow alleyways. The scent of incense wafts through the air, and traditional architecture stands tall, recounting stories of dynasties long past. Yu Garden is believed to have been built in the Ming Dynasty, more than 400 years ago. It was the largest and most prestigious of its era in Shanghai after it was completed.
Yu Garden is small in size, but it contains all elements that a classical Chinese garden should have. The pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters all have unique characteristics. It is composed of six scenic areas: Sansui Hall, Wanhua Chamber, Dianchun Hall, Huijing Hall, Yuhua Hall, and the Inner Garden.
For those looking for a glimpse into ancient China, as reflected in movies and books, this is the place to be.

The Allure of the Bund: Where Past Meets Present
No visit to Shanghai is complete without a stroll along the iconic Bund. Stretching 1.5 km along the bank of the Huangu River from the Waibaidu Bridge. The Bund is the No.1 must-visit and most famous landmark in Shanghai.
This waterfront promenade is a living testament to the city’s evolution. On one side, the architectural marvels of old European colonial buildings harken back to the early 20th century. On the other, the futuristic skyline of Pudong rises, reflecting the city’s commitment to progress and innovation. It’s a visual symphony that captures the essence of Shanghai’s duality.
You can stroll along the Bund, or take a Huangpu River cruise to enjoy the city skyline. The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel offers a unique but pricey way to cross the river.
Aside from the waterfront views, the Bund also has a heap of shops, restaurants, bars and galleries, too. It’s perfect if you’re looking to grab a bite to eat or to soak up that city view with a drink or two.
The Towering Skyscrapers of Shanghai
Shanghai, a city that never sleeps, is home to some of the world’s most awe-inspiring skyscrapers. These architectural marvels stand as a testament to human ingenuity and the boundless possibilities of modern engineering.
Make sure you put some time aside for a stroll admiring these breathtaking giants.
