“Once you have travelled, the voyage never ends, but is played out over and over again in the quietest chambers. The mind can never break off from the journey”. Pat Conroy
I’m so excited to share the final post from our American adventures.
In my last post, I wrote about the Grand Central Terminal, Central Park, fabulous 5th Avenue, Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, and Wall Street.
Today I want to share our amazing experience of the One World Trade Center Observatory.
The adventure starts from the second you enter the lift. As you ride to the top, you get to watch over 500 years of New York City evolution in under 60 seconds. This breath-taking ascension uses floor-to-ceiling LED technology to surround you with an immersive virtual time-lapse unlike anything you’ve ever seen.
The Main Observatory is based on the 100th floor and it delivers panoramic views in every direction, Manhattan, Brooklyn, New Jersey and the surrounding waters from an entirely new perspective. I couldn’t possibly put it into words so I hope the photos do it at least a little bit of justice! NYC looks incredible from this position.
We stayed for dinner at the One Dine restaurant on the 101st floor, which was also an unforgettable experience. If you’re ever in New York you really should take time out to visit the WTC as it’s truly an immense experience – and for us was the perfect end to day 2 of our stay in NYC.
For the outfit, I chose a dress from C/MEO Collective which I paired with a pair of very comfortable sandals from River Island Phelix Tie Up Low Block Heel and the Swarovski crystals and an evening clutch bag.
On day 3 of our stay in NYC we took a ride to the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets which is a large outlet center located in Central Valley, New York. We (I) only spent a few hours shopping but again it was a successful trip for me, not as much for my wallet though.
For the outfit, I chose a very comfortable Quiz Floral Culotte jumpsuit.
After we recovered from hours of walking and shopping we had a lovely dinner at our hotel at the Michelin-starred Al Fiori.
Day 4 we visited the Statue of Liberty followed by a quick lunch in Tribeca. Tribeca is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan known for its old industrial buildings, many now turned into residential loft space. By many criteria, Tribeca could be considered the best place to live in the city. Cobblestone streets are lined with trendy boutiques and restaurants. Tribeca is a combination of industrial sensibility and simple sophistication.
In the evening, we headed towards Time Square to see the Book of Mormon. It was so nice to do something different as opposed to sightseeing and shopping. We really enjoyed the play while sipping champagne and it was such a nice way to end our trip to NYC.
For the outfit, I chose a Lipsy Sequin Lace Shift Dress, Furla handbag and a pair of flats suede shoes from Accessorize (initially I planned to wear a pair of glamorous heels but comfort won over the look)
As I mentioned before, seeing New York has been a dream of mine for a long time and it sure did not disappoint. I cannot help but start imagining the next time I will visit and honestly, I just cannot wait!
