As soon as October arrives I feel like it’s time to break out the pumpkin spice everything and lean into spooky, funny, Halloween-ready mood. What’s not to like about the Halloween celebration, it’s so much fun, mischief and a great excuse to do something different!
Whether you love it or hate it, the 31st of October is on its way and there is always something for all ghosts and ghouls during the witching hour.
Dig out the fake fangs, dust off your cape, polish the broomstick and prepare for a read full of frights with Halloween party essentials to throw your spookiest soirée ever from creepy cocktails, ghoulish food to spooky costumes.

Invitations are perfect to set the mood for the party long before it even starts.
The type of invitation you choose can let people know if the party will be light hearted or spooky.

Decorating for Halloween seems to become more and more intense every year with many stores setting up their spooky selections as early as August!
If you’re a big fan of Halloween, your average skeletons, pumpkins, and ghosts might not be enough during the fall season. Throwing up just a few of the decorations that you’ve used year after year isn’t going to work forever and now it’s the time to morph the vibe in your entire home into a unified spook zone.
Party decorations can get expensive fast if you don’t know where to look. If you’re committed to immersing your guests in a full Halloween experience, then every detail counts.

If you really want to go for the gold here and add that perfectly spooky atmosphere, hit up some local antique shops for decorations. Anything from old dolls (seriously creepy), candle holders, mirrors to old oil lamps and clocks can provide a brooding atmosphere to any Halloween party.

Use pumpkins for literally everything
What’s more seasonal than pumpkins that are also synonymous with Halloween. Consider turning pumpkins into buckets, candy dishes, and even punch bowls for your party.
You can even set out a few pumpkins carved into spooky little fairy houses with candles inside to shine through their windows.

Make supernatural cocktails
There are plenty of spooky cocktails you can make to get the evening going with a swing.
Serve red-coloured spooky syringes filled with bloody mary, mix your own Halloween punch, add some edible food colouring or glitter and don’t forget the fake eyeballs to float in it.
If you’re feeling like the host or hostess with the mostest, take your home bar to the next level and employ a little science with dry ice to produce very cool smoking effects. Ensure that you follow all the safety precautions not to touch or eat it.
You can also extend the Halloween spirit to your party’s drinks also by serving classic drinks like gin & tonic since the quinine compound in tonic water allows the cocktail to shine bright under a UV light.

Any Halloween party is incomplete without theme music to set the mood. Classic hits like “Thriller” by Michael Jackson or “Everybody” by Backstreet Boys are catchy enough to raise the dead.

Set the mood
When most people think about Halloween, they imagine all things that are dark, mysterious, and scary. Your party environment should be just as exciting.
Candles, strobe lights, and coloured lights can provide just enough light to keep the party interesting. Do keep in mind that areas that have food and drinks should be more illuminated so people can see what they’re getting.
Pick your favourite Halloween movie to put on in the background to really set the mood for your party. There’s really no better way to say “scary Halloween party” than with some casual spooky footage on TV while you rage.

Halloween Costume Ideas
While there may be some seasonal enthusiasts out there who have already had their costume planned months in advance (this would be me!), quite a few will no doubt leave it to the last minute.
My costume
No matter where you’re celebrating – in person at a bar, at home with friends, or out trick-or-treating with the fam – Halloween costumes are an absolute must.
This year I’ve chosen to dress up as an evil queen, all in black with gold accents and carefully chosen accessories (the dress sold out now).
